IT consulting & private AI · North Bay, California

IT consulting and on-prem AI for Sonoma County, from Rohnert Park.

A senior engineer who sits down with you in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, San Rafael or Napa, designs the infrastructure, and then runs it: private AI that keeps customer data in the building, Windows servers moved as-is onto hardware we own, a VMware bill cut in half, and the audit paperwork done for you.

Running IT for regulated businesses since 2000. A California community bank's AI build is in progress now.

Where we work

Sonoma, Marin and Napa, in person.

The North Bay practice is run from Rohnert Park, so most of the region is within an hour's drive. The first conversation about your servers, your AI project or your audit is better had in your building, looking at what you actually run, than on a web form.

What we do in the North Bay

Design it, build it, then run it.

Most engagements here start as a project with a senior engineer. Some stay that way; some become the systems we run for you for years.

On-prem and private AI

Copilots, document search and agents for banks, wineries and other businesses that cannot send customer data to a third-party model. We size the GPU hardware for your actual workload, select and evaluate the models, install it in your building or our data center, and run it. A California community bank's build is in progress now.

IT consulting and projects

Infrastructure design, Windows Server upgrades, migrations off a closing host, network and security. A defined build with a senior engineer, time-and-materials, itemized, no lock-in. We sit down with you first, in person.

Scope a project →

Hosted Windows servers

Your Windows Server, SQL and VMware workloads copied exactly as they are, same names, same IPs, same logins, onto hardware we build and own in a SOC 2 Type II data center. Patching, backup, replica and on-call included, one monthly number locked for the term.

What hosting includes →

VMware cost reduction

Broadcom raised the bill. We assess your vSphere estate and migrate it to Proxmox VE on enterprise hardware, with no per-core licensing, a clean cutover and rollback at every step.

VMware migration →

Audit and insurer paperwork

When an insurer, a regulator or an auditor asks you to prove things about your systems, the servers-backups-and-access section is ours. We fill it in from the systems we run, confirm it with you, and it goes back done.

How the audit story works →

Custom business software

A CRM with only the parts you use, a job app for your crew, a portal in front of the database you already have. Built with AI in Phoenix Studio and run on our servers. The same person who designs your infrastructure can build the software that runs on it.

On-prem AI

Your AI shouldn't leave the building either.

Regulated businesses want what everyone else has, copilots, document search, agents, without sending customer data to a third-party model. We design, install and run the GPU infrastructure that keeps it inside your perimeter.

  • Hardware sizing and model selection for your actual workload, not a vendor's reference design
  • Runs in your building or our data center, same team either way
  • Exchange Bank, a California community bank: AI build in progress
Who calls us

North Bay businesses with something to protect.

Community banks and credit unions

AI that stays inside the perimeter, with the audit trail a regulator expects. Hardware sizing, model selection and the paperwork to show the examiner.

Wineries, growers and producers

Production, club and compliance data in systems that have grown over twenty years. Servers moved as-is, backed up properly, with AI document search over the contracts and the TTB paperwork.

Medical, dental and professional practices

A server closet nobody wants to touch, an insurer's questionnaire every year, and a Windows Server 2016 deadline in January 2027.

Manufacturers and distributors

Line-of-business applications on ageing Windows servers, more than one site, and a VMware renewal that doubled.

Who you're working with

A local engineer, backed by a team that runs enterprise IT.

Phoenix Network Solutions has run private cloud and IT for regulated businesses since 2000. The same team runs IT for Sigma Underwriting, a Brown & Brown company, and for Armellini Express Lines.

The North Bay practice is run from Rohnert Park by Michael Becker, Phoenix's president. Engineering and the 24/7 desk are in Broward County, Florida, and client hardware runs on equipment we build and maintain ourselves in a SOC 2 Type II data center, or in your own building.

Questions from the North Bay.

Everything inside the hosting number is on the managed hosting page.

Where is Phoenix based in the North Bay?
Our consulting, on-prem AI and Phoenix Studio practice is run from Rohnert Park in Sonoma County, and we meet clients in person across Sonoma, Marin and Napa. Phoenix Network Solutions is a Florida corporation; our engineering and 24/7 support desk is in Broward County, and client hardware runs in a SOC 2 Type II colocation facility in Fort Lauderdale or in your own building.
What does on-prem AI actually involve?
Sizing GPU hardware for your real workload rather than a vendor's reference design; selecting and testing the models; installing the cluster in your building or our data center; and running it, with the access controls and audit trail a regulated business needs. A California community bank's build is in progress now.
Can you host our servers if we are in California and the data center is in Florida?
Yes. Your environment is copied as-is and connected to your offices over private links, and your staff log in exactly as before. Where it makes more sense to keep hardware in your building, we design, install and run it there instead. Either way it is the same team.
Do you do one-off projects, or only ongoing contracts?
Both. Many North Bay engagements start as a defined project with a senior engineer: an AI build, a server upgrade, a migration. Time-and-materials, itemized, no lock-in. Some become ongoing; some do not need to.
Windows Server 2016 reaches end of support in January 2027. What should we do?
Three options: upgrade in place, move to Azure, or move it as-is onto hosted private cloud. We will go through all three with you on one call, before the deadline, and tell you which fits what you run.
Who will we actually be dealing with?
Michael Becker, Phoenix's president, who runs the North Bay practice from Rohnert Park, and the Phoenix engineering team behind him. No account manager, no handoffs.

Thirty minutes, in your building, with a senior engineer.

Sonoma, Marin or Napa: tell us what you run and what keeps you up at night. You leave with a written list of what we'd change, whether or not you hire us.
